Stuart Abelman

Ken Scott, based in the Pacific Northwest, has been designing, engineering and producing wall sculptures since 1970. He is thought to be the "inventor" of this particular art form, and in his natural setting of towering trees and cascading water, Ken Scott finds inspiration for the brilliant and gracefully articulated wall sculptures that he is indeed famous for.

The wall sculptures are produced by hand using Oxygen/Acetylene and Thermal Arc torches, welding processes and grinders. And with the exception of the gold leafing used in the piece "Sunshine Coast" (shown below) and the green enamel of "foliage", no other paints are used. The coloration of the pieces are achieved using heat and various oxidizing agents that bring out the colors inherent in the metal.

"Cloud of Glory" "Bon Sal"
"Coastal Caves" "Natures Cathedral"
"Santiam Pass" "Sunshine Coast"

Please keep in mind that these pieces are extremely difficult to photograph.
Although these images are representational, they do not do justice to the actual sculptures.
