Geoffrey
Smith's early love of birds and nature was fostered when at age six
his father took him on hunting trips in the then waterfowl rich San
Pablo Bay, in the San Francisco Bay area of Northern California.
He began carving duck decoys from wood as a child, and with his grandfather's
encouragement, moved on to competitions and sculpting in clay.
As a young adult, he moved to Bozeman, Montana to attend college and
further his experiences outdoors. Today, he lives in Florida,
where he sculpts in his studio and observes the wildlife that populates
those wetlands.
Geoffrey's sculptures flow with grace
and style, capturing the essence of each subject matter: fowl,
safari animals, marine alike. Two of his recent commissions
are an 8 foot bronze sculpture of flying geese for Nature Works, Inc.,
a non-profit conservation organization in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a trio
of playing ducks at 150% of life-size for a fountain at Phoebe Putnam
Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. Below is sampling of some
of his beautiful bronze works. He has an extensive catalog that
includes a variety of subjects. Please call or e-mail the Gallery
with any inquiries. We are proud to represent the work of Geoffrey
Smith.
